Corporate Fishing Charters & Team Building in Los Angeles

Skip the trust falls. Put your team on a boat off the LA coast for a day they'll actually talk about. We handle the boat, the captain, and the plan — you take the credit.

Every company does the bowling night. The escape room. The happy hour that half the team skips. A corporate fishing charter in Los Angeles is the team-building event people remember for years — because it's real: salt air, open water, and a shared mission that has nothing to do with quarterly targets.

Spirit Sportfishing is your booking concierge for company outings on the water. You tell us the group size, the date, and the vibe — competitive tournament, relaxed client entertainment, or anything in between — and we match you with the right boat and captain. One point of contact from first call to dockside.

Why Fishing Works for Corporate Events

  • Zero experience required. The crew teaches everything. Your CFO who's never held a rod will be catching fish within the hour — and loving it.
  • Real teamwork, no forced fun. Landing a big fish takes communication and coordination. It happens naturally, without a facilitator in a polo shirt.
  • Phones stay in pockets. Out on the water, the Slack notifications stop mattering. People are present in a way no conference room can produce.
  • Built-in conversation. Clients and colleagues who'd small-talk awkwardly at a dinner open up on the rail. Deals have been known to happen between bites.
  • Everyone leaves with something. Photos, fish for dinner, and a shared story — try getting that from a catered lunch.

Group Sizes: From Small Teams to Full Buyouts

Corporate groups come in all sizes, and the LA fleet has boats to match:

  • 6–12 people: a private six-pack or small charter boat — intimate, flexible, and easy to coordinate.
  • 12–30 people: a mid-size private charter where the whole group is together on one boat.
  • 30+ people: a full private buyout of a larger vessel — your company owns the boat for the day.

Tell us your headcount and we'll recommend the right setup. If your group is big enough to need more than one boat, we coordinate a multi-boat outing so everyone fishes the same day, same waters. See party boat options for larger shared vessels too.

What a Corporate Day on the Water Looks Like

Most company outings run a half day (about 5 hours) or three-quarter day (about 9 hours) out of Redondo Beach, Long Beach, or nearby LA-area landings. A typical program:

  • Morning dockside. Coffee, a safety briefing, and introductions with the captain. Group photo before lines go in.
  • Fishing. Target species depend on the season — calico bass, sand bass, yellowtail, bonito, barracuda. Check the fishing calendar and daily fish counts for what's biting.
  • The fun extras. Biggest-fish contest with a trophy, department-vs-department challenges, or a relaxed cruise-and-fish format for client groups. We help you design it.
  • Dockside finish. Fish cleaned and bagged for anyone who wants dinner to go. More photos. The stories start immediately.

Client Entertainment That Actually Entertains

Taking a client to dinner is fine. Taking a client fishing is memorable. A private boat gives you hours of unscripted time together — no interruptions, no competing for attention, just a shared experience that builds the kind of rapport a steakhouse can't. If you're planning client entertainment, ask us about boats with comfortable seating areas and shaded decks for the non-anglers in the group.

Planning tip: Spring and summer dates book out earliest for corporate groups. Tell us your target date early — join the waitlist now and we'll hold your place in line as our partner boats come online.

How Booking Works

Simple, even for first-time planners.

  1. 1Tell us about your group. Headcount, preferred date range, and the vibe you want — via our trip planner or (310) 622-2830.
  2. 2We match you with the right boat. We recommend the vessel and format that fits your group, and coordinate the details with the captain.
  3. 3Your team shows up and fishes. We stay your point of contact before, during planning, and after the trip.
